In Columbus, Ohio, a northeast side couple said that they woke up to find hateful language spray painted in yellow on their home on Friday. The pair woke up to find "Move or Die" followed by a gay slur spray painted on their Blue Cloud Lane home, 10TV News reports. Investigators also found the word "Die" followed by a gay slur. The couple said that the threats came hours after they attended a heated condo association meeting. Police did not connect the meeting to the hateful language.

In North Carolina, the battle lines are emerging in the fight over a constitutional amendment to ban both same sex marriage and civil unions, as a new pro-amendment committee has formed. The News-Observer reports that a group of religious and advocacy organizations on Thursday announced the formation of Vote for Marriage N.C. to spearhead the campaign supporting the marriage amendment May 8 on the primary ballot. The amendment would make marriage between one man and one woman the only domestic legal union recognized in the state. The N.C. Values Coalition led the fight to get the amendment approved by the legislature earlier this year, and has made the first donation to the pro-amendment committee: $1,000. Pro-amendment organizers plan to appeal to a broad group of voters but will focus particular attention on black voters and the faith community, especially after N.C. Baptists endorsed the amendment. Tami Fitzgerald, a founding member of the group, said the campaign's message will focus on how marriage affects children and the economy: that it "generates the next generation of workers and the next generation of healthy children." An anti-amendment committee, the Coalition to Protect North Carolina Families, formed in November.

In the United Kingdom, Keith Morgan, who worked at Sunwin Cash Management - a company tasked with moving money around the country and filling up ATMs - quit his job this summer after complaining that co-workers constantly ridiculed him because of his sexuality. The 39-year-old started his job at the firm, which is owned by the Co-operative Group, at its Aylesford depot in Kent in 2008. The Telegraph reports that stayed in the job for three years, but claimed that his colleagues discriminated against him and that he was “subjected to homophobic abuse...which escalated into a hate campaign.” Morgan, of Chatham, was due to appear at an employment tribunal claiming discrimination and unfair dismissal this week, but decided to accept an out of court settlement from the company before it started. Morgan said he could not speak about the case due to conditions of his agreement with Sunwin. A spokesperson for Sunwin said it had no comment.

Neil Patrick Harris apologized Friday for using the word “tranny” during a segment of Thursday’s Live with Kelly. “Truly sorry for saying the word ‘tranny’ on Live this week. Twice!” tweeted Harris. “Should have been more thoughtful. Didn’t at all mean to offend.” Entertainment Weekly reports that guest-co-host Harris and Ripa had inhaled sulphur hexafluoride, “helium’s evil twin,” during a science experiment that made their voices lower. Recognizing that he sounded very similar to Buffalo Bill, the killer from Silence of the Lambs, Harris drew laughs when he said, “Put the lotion in the basket.” When the gas expired, Harris said, “I’ve never sounded more like a tranny in my life.” GLAAD accepted Harris apology in a statement this afternoon. “It’s heartening to see a celebrity of Harris’ stature recognize and apologize for using the slur in such a timely manner, and for greater media attention being paid to its use. Many people do not realize that the word ‘tranny’ is one of the most hurtful and dehumanizing slurs that transgender people hear. Most transgender people associate that word with personal experiences of violence, hatred and derision.” The video is available at the source.

Leaders of one of Chicago's oldest Roman Catholic churches are objecting to a newly-proposed route for the city's annual gay pride parade, saying the event will draw large crowds outside the church entrance and block access to Sunday Masses. The parade that has run through parts of Chicago's North Side for more than four decades attracted 800,000 people last year, according to organizers, and has only grown. Crowds often pack shoulder-to-shoulder along the route and take over blocks and businesses during the event held the last Sunday in June to coincide with other pride parades nationwide. The Chicago Tribune reports that in order to combat longstanding concerns about crowds, drinking, traffic and public transportation access, organizers have proposed a new route that extends further north, scales back on the number of floats, and has an earlier start time. But the revised route also would now go by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where officials are circulating petitions asking city officials to help change the route and earlier start time that conflicts with prayer times. Church officials say they may not have morning Masses for the first time in nearly 100 years on the day of the parade. "Your help is needed," a post on the church's Facebook page reads. "Unfortunately, the parade will now pass in front of the church on Sunday morning, making it impossible for parishioners to get to church, not to mention the damage to parish property." The Rev. Thomas Srenn said the church, which hosts a weekly evening service geared toward gay parishioners, doesn't oppose the parade on religious grounds. "Many of our parishioners will be at the parade and some will be in the parade," he said. "The parish reflects all that diversity. It has nothing to do with the theme of the parade. The change of route and the time brought it right in the heart of our sacred time." Church officials have directed parishioners to contact Chicago Alderman Tom Tunney, an openly-gay leader who attends the church in his ward. Tunney said he has spoken to Srenn and that they are working on a solution. "The previous route has passed additional churches in my ward and both the parade organizers and the city were able to work with and address their needs," Tunney said in a statement, adding that he "will continue to work on addressing their concerns while maintaining the parade as a neighbourhood celebration of tolerance and diversity." Tunney's office and parade coordinator Richard Pfeiffer said they didn't think discrimination was a factor in the petitions. Pfeiffer added that there hasn't been damage to buildings along the route in years past. He said that three other churches were on the old route and have never reported issues. Pfeiffer said they've proposed adding barriers in front of the church or monitors to make sure people can get into Mass. He said the route wouldn't be finalized with the city until next year when organizers can apply for permits.

The incredible, edible Chad White, clan solely in Speedos, thank you very much!
