Boston Police Investigate Hate Crime Attack

An alleged victim was targeted on the Orange line last Sunday at 10:00 pm because he was gay, according to Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority police, and according to a report by WHDH-TV, they are classifying the incident a “hate crime.” Police are looking for the three suspects caught on surveillance tape, two men and one woman. The suspects, according to police, threatened to beat the 27-year-old victim, yelling homophobic slurs at the man. Though the victim was not physically hurt, he was shoved onto an MBTA train as the doors opened while the suspects ran off and left Haymarket Station. “People are ignorant,” said Robin Assner, a local upset by the situation. “I’d like to think it wouldn’t happen, but unfortunately it does.” Another woman said that “I think that it’s just ridiculous. In this day and age, nothing like that should happen.”
