Macon Georgia Gay Men Denied Entrance To Bar Because They Would Not “Act Straight,” Henry Rollins Blast John Boehner Over Decision To Defend Defense Of Marriage Act, Jim Parsons And Lee Pace Join Cast Of The Normal Heart, Alex O’Loughlin, Tom Brady And Gisele Carnival PDA

WMAZ-11 reports that a Macon, Georgia man. Colby Cain says he and two friends were refused entry from a downtown night club because of their sexual orientation. Cain says he and two other friends waited outside of Club Element, formerly known as Synergy, for about 20 minutes to get in. He says a female bouncer pulled all three men out of line and told them they couldn't enter the club if they "acted gay." He says she then told them that the club was no longer a gay bar, and that it is now a straight bar so if they entered they would need to act straight. Club manager Chris Bordelon says she was not present during the alleged confrontation but says no harm against the men was intended. She says the men were simply asked not to "act" gay to prevent any fights between the new and old crowd. Bordelon says an altercation did break out after a group of lesbians that were called "dykes" by other club-goers. Element replaced Synergy, a club previously opened in Macon, which catered to the gay and lesbian community. The club's opening night was on Friday. Georgia and federal law do not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Henry Rollins, of the late, greatly lamented Black Flag, writing in Vanity Fair, eviscerates Speak of the House John Boehner and his inexplicable (but sadly predictable) decision to defend the indefensible Defense of Marriage Act. Rollins writes that “President Obama sees the light and says his administration will no longer defend DOMA in court. Being happy about that would be like rejoicing that doctors are no longer applying leeches to patient’s faces when they complain of nasal congestion. It’s not a bad thing, though, and about damn time. In to save the day, to keep those damn gays in their place, is House Speaker John Boehner, who will put himself and his sterling reputation on the line to stand against the president, his insurgent gay terrorist pals, and their dreams of marriage and equal protection under the law. That’s a relief. When things threaten to become too constitutional, thankfully, there’s someone like John Boehner, owner of every third tear cried in America, to step in and attempt to push America back into the good old days of darkness. Rather than shoulder the awesome burden of creating some damned jobs in America, he goes for the easy cheap shot of going after gay Americans. Again.”

The New York Times reports that Jim Parsons and Lee Pace have joined the cast of the upcoming Broadway production of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart. Parsons, who recently won an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the physicist Sheldon Cooper, on the CBS series The Big Bang Theory, will make his Broadway debut in playing Tommy Boatwright, a Southerner in a nascent group of HIV/AIDS activists in the early 1980s. Pace, a star of the late, lamented ABC series Pushing Daisies, will also be making his Broadway debut in the role of Bruce Niles, a closeted fellow activist. This latest production of The Normal Heart, Larry Kramer’s semi-autobiographical work about AIDS, friendship and love in 1980s-era New York, will be directed by Joel Grey (with some help from George C. Wolfe), and is to begin previews at the Golden Theatre on April 19th with an opening night planned for April 27th. Previously announced cast members include Joe Mantello as the protagonist, Ned Weeks, Ellen Barkin as Dr. Emma Brookner, and John Benjamin Hickey as Weeks’s lover, Felix Turner.

A very sweaty Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen caught kissing in public in the early morning hours Monday, in Rio de Janeiro, at Carnival.
