The Des Moines Register editorial Sunday that implores Iowans to take a stand and fight against a movement to amend the state constitution to ban both same sex marriage and civil unions, the Register writing that “Now is the time for Iowans to stand up and be on the right side of history. The movement to amend the Iowa Constitution to ban same-sex marriage and civil unions is a movement to strip away the civil rights of one small group of Iowans. If the rights of one group can be taken away, whose rights are at risk next? It is critical to defend the rights of others to protect everyone's freedoms. That is the message legislators should hear, because Iowa stands at a critical juncture: Will it move forward and protect equal rights, or will it move backward and remove them? The answer will define this state's character, both immediately and in the judgment of history.” The editorial concludes “One of the main arguments against allowing women the right to vote was that it would undermine the traditional family. Imagine that. Yet, it's the same argument people use to oppose gay marriage. We should be wiser now, as we write our history. Do we want to be remembered as a place that protected the rights of all people? Or do we want to be remembered as a place that proactively stripped people of rights? This is not a time to quietly stand by while others try to stamp out the freedoms of our neighbours. Iowa is a place that protects equal rights. Not takes them away. That is what this moment in history is about.”

According to the New York Post's Page Six, 68 year old Calvin Klein and his boyfriend, part-time gay porn star, Nick Gruber, 21 years old, are so deeply in love that Klein is building a seven-car garage at his Hampton’s oceanfront home to house Nick’s future collection of “classic muscle cars, at least that is what Gruber says. The couple have been dating for a year. The Post writes that “Gruber was overheard telling guests at the Armitage Gone! Dance gala at Capitale Thursday night that, because he wants to collect classic muscle cars, Klein is building a bigger garage -- and that his decision to build one big enough for seven cars has set the whole project back by six months. Noting that Klein owns a 011 Bentley and a BMW, Gruber was heard to say that while he doesn't own a car himself, he'd like a Pontiac GTO Judge and a Mustang.” To that end, Klein is adding another six months to a construction schedule, although a rep for the designer denies the delay is related in any way to Gruber, saying “Construction is behind, but not because Calvin is enlarging the garage to house Nick's collection. He is enlarging the garage because he has his own cars and his staff have cars."

The Green Bay Packers held on to win Super Bowl XLV, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25, Christina Aguilera making a mistake while singing the national anthem, as the New York Times reports “Instead of ‘O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming,’ Ms. Aguilera belted out, ‘What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last reaming.’ That line was a repeat of one she’d already sung a few seconds earlier, except with some personal embellishments, like her replacement of the word ‘gleaming’ with ‘reaming.’”
