Oxford Ohio Police Arrest Kentucky Man In Connection To Anti-Gay Assault In April On Student

In Ohio, Oxford police Monday announced that they have charged a Kentucky man in connection to an anti-gay assault in April of a Miami University student outside an Uptown bar, the Oxford Press reporting that 20 year old Grant Rose was arrested January 13th for assault, a first-degree misdemeanour, after being identified in a photo line-up. Rose is accused of assaulting Benjamin Collings, who was attending a charity event at the Stadium Bar Uptown when he and Rose got into a verbal confrontation in a bathroom. According to police, Rose allegedly made anti-gay derogatory remark towards Collings, the confrontation turning physical outside the bar, when Rose allegedly attacked Collings, who suffered serious facial injuries, including two black eyes, a broken nose, and a fractured cheekbone. The incident led to a rally on campus attended by over 300 University of Miami at Ohio students and staff, as well as members of the community, who marched carrying flag and signs demanding “No More Hate on My Campus.”
