Charlotte North Carolina Yoga Studio Announces Closing Due To Snow “Uber Gay”

A Charlotte, North Carolina yoga studio – Y2 Yoga - has offered an awkward apology for using the word “gay” eight times in the pejorative way in an e-mail and a Twitter post, Fox News reporting that yoga studio owner and instructor Tanner Bazemore sent an e-mail and tweet regarding business closures due to snow, saying in part “Greetings! I know it sounds gay, but we are definitely less gay across the bored (sic) when to CMS, BOA, etc, etc ... Mainly, I am being gay ... Closely completely because of the white stuff is being uber gay!” The e-mail also included four disclaimers, one reading “Pedophiles be dammed or at least contract Ebola and die and (sic) painful and agonizingly slow death.” Another reads “Pedophiles who feel hurt with my words sent your comments to john_waslh@americasmostwanted.com.” One person on Twitter responded to the bizarre business message with “@Y2Yoga Are you 12 years old? Yoga has obviously brought you no enlightenment – only homophobia. How sad. Avoid this ignorant place!!!” One of Y2 Yoga’s students e-mailed Fox Charlotte, saying “I am gay and have always felt safe inside a yoga studio. Now ... I feel as though my safety place of peace has been violated. I will be attending a different studio from here on.” Bazemore eventually tweeted “An apology has been issued to those offended. It is unfortunate my words were misconstrued. Nothing but love for all. Sorry. OM. TB,” that e-mail apology suggesting his “intentions were light hearted,” mentioning that he had been drinking wine at the time of writing. He also issued a statement to Fox, saying in part “I just want to say that there is a difference between Tanner the person and Y@ the yoga studio. I’m deeply sorry for anyone that offended by my email. While I might be a moron, I’m not a hurtful person.” He has extended an open invitation to come to the studio and has made a $1,000 donation to the “It Gets Better Project,” the anti-bullying campaign.
