Westboro Baptist Church Announces Plan To Picket Funeral Of Elizabeth Edwards; WBC Web Site Subsequently Hacked

The Westboro Baptist Church announced via their web site that the anti-gay band of hate mongers intends to picket the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards, the 61 year old who died Tuesday after a long battle fighting breast cancer. The group states on their web site (which has since either crashed or been hacked) that “God hates Elizabeth Edwards” and to “Flee her example,” adding that “Elizabeth is a now a resident of hell, where he rebellion and rage will take full flower. She rejoins the dead child who beat her there, and has seen the face of her grievious misconduct in neglecting her non-delegable duty to him.” Edwards is to be buried in Raleigh, North Carolina Saturday, next to her son Wade, who died in 1999 at the age of 16. Edwards, who helped her then husband John campaign as a Democratic candidate for the presidency in 2008, broke with his platform of supporting civil unions for gay and lesbian couples, Elizabeth stating she fully supporting gay marriage, saying “I don’t know why somebody else’s marriage has anything to do with me. I’m completely comfortable with gay marriage.”
