Aiming To Avoid Filing Anti-Gay Discrimination Lawsuit Counsel For Former University Of Minnesota Women’s Golf Coach Negotiates Financial Settlement, Sexual Battery Trial Of Clovis California High School Wrestler Who Employed Butt Drag Delayed Until January, Jillian Michaels Leaves Biggest Loser, Rafael Nadal New Face/Smoking Sexy Body Of Armani Underwear

Golfweek.com reports that Donald Chance Mark Jr. an attorney for Katie Brenny confirms that he and the University of Minnesota General Counsel Mark Rotenberg are in negotiations meant to avoid an anti-gay discrimination lawsuit, Brenny contending that she encountered a hostile work environment after it became apparent to John Harris, Minnesota’s first-year director of golf, that Brenny is a lesbian. The 30 year old Brenny alleges that Harris would not permit her to travel with the team or to instruct players, and refused to allow her to recruit players, effectively relegating her to a desk job. Brenny was hired in August as the $44,000 a year associate women’s golf coach, the university website saying at the time that she would “assist” the official coach “with all duties. However, less than a week after she started, the university changed her job title and description. Harris denies the allegations, but Brenny did not accompany the women’s team to any of its four fall events. The Gophers were coached by Ernie Rose, who happens to be Harris’s son-in-law and the Gophers’ director of instruction. He does not hold a college degree, a requirement by the University for a Head coaching position. Harris says that “Katie is a very resilient and positive person. She’s obviously disappointed in the way she was treated, particularly in not being able to coach a group of girls she had become very close to in a short period of time. We hope to put this behind us.”

The sexual battery trial of 17 year old Preston Hill, the Buchanan High School wrestler in Clovis, California, has been delayed until January 13th, an attorney for Preston telling the Fresno Bee. Preston is accused of allegedly ramming two fingers in a 14 year old teammate’s anus during a wrestling practice at Buchanan in July, a move purportedly common to the amateur sport, referred to as a “butt drag.” The alleged victim’s father, however, insists that Preston is a bully who targeted his son. The trial was to begin Thursday, but Fresno County Superior Court Judge David Gottlieb met with both sides behind closed doors, and subsequently issued a media blackout. It is reported that District Attorney Elizabeth Egan now requires more time to investigate the case. Earlier in the week, Egan wanted to dismiss the change against Preston, but did not once deputy district attorney Elana Smith found a witness able to corroborate the victim’s account that Preston threatened him. Preston, a senior, remains suspended from Buchanan High pending an expulsion hearing, which will likely not occur until the criminal charge against him is resolved.

Jillian Michaels is leaving the Biggest Loser, tweeting that she wants “to take a year off TV and focus on becoming a mommy and doing more charity work.”
