Two Charged In 2009 New York City Horrific Hate Crime Assault Enter Guilty Pleas

Two men have pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery as a hate crime in New York City, the attack occurred in the early hours of October 8th, 2009, 22 year old Daniel Rodriguez Tuesday now facing a 12 years in prison for the anti-gay assault of 50 year old Jack Price. Rodriguez and 27 Daniel Aleman both admit to taunting Price with anti-gay slurs, then beating and kicking him before stealing his wallet. Aleman pleaded guilty last week and face eight years in prison. Price suffered a fractured jaw and ribs, two collapsed ribs, and a lacerated spleen. He spent three weeks in hospital. According to the New York Post, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said that “Today’s guilty plea ensures that the victim of a crime motivated by hate will receive justice. The defendant is expected to be sentenced to a term of imprisonment that will serve as both a punishment for his actions and a deterrent to those who would commit hate crimes, whether they be motivated by gender, religion, sexual orientation or ethnicity.”
