Darren Criss speaks to On The Red Carpet about the role of Blaine, the openly gay member of a rival glee club on FOX’s Glee who makes his debut this Tuesday and says “It’s just a bonus that it is actually a very cool and interesting role, an actors and sort of politically what it stands for. This is a guy that is really empowered and strong through who he is and what he’s all about. So I really hope that fact is a source of positive energy for any kind of youth dealing with any kind of issue. This is the biggest bonus about this character. Even if it wasn’t Glee, if it wasn’t a major network it is so great to see such a strong gay youth character.” Criss, being coy and cute, said of the rumour he will be Kurt Hummel’s boyfriend, said “I’m more interested in Blaine being a friend and a mentor to Kurt and for the first time having someone in the same exact situation as Kurt. At this point in the show most of Kurt’s friendships are not as easily relatable as Blaine will be, so that’s the coolest past. So we’ll see what happens from there.” Below, is a clip from the November 9th episode where Kurt, played by Chris Colfer, first meets a Katy Perry-Teenage Dream serenading Blaine.
