The Associated Press reports that the Brazilian army has two of its soldiers in custody in connection to the shooting of a 19 year old gay youth Sunday that took place following Rio de Janerio’s gay pride parade. Douglas Igor Marques Luitz was shot once in the stomach, taken to hospital, treated, and released. He told police that he and two friends were cornered by two men in uniform; however the army initially denied any involvement.

MSNBC reports that two men aboard Virgin America Flight 28 that originated in San Francisco headed for New York City early Thursday were married as the plane briefly flew over Canada, where gay marriage is legal. According to reports, the captain of the flight officiated the wedding, a flight attendant telling passengers “While you were sleeping, we had a little wedding in the galley. The captain diverted us over Canada airspace so he could marry two gentlemen. We’d like to wish them the best and offer them a round of applause.” Virgin America confirms that the flight path for Flight 28 dose go over Canada. No names have been released, and the validity of the union remains unclear.

Fox-25 reports that the new principal of the Whitman Hanson Regional High School in Massachusetts has ended an annual tradition of seniors wearing black, juniors wearing red, sophomores wearing white and freshman wearing pink to a football game Thanksgiving day, Jeffery Szymaniak asking all students to wear school colors instead. Szymaniak says that his role is to create a safe environment and that banning the color pink from pep rallies is one of several polices the school implemented in May following the passage of anti-bullying legislation.

Tony Perkins, the president of the anti-gay Family Research Council, whose utter absence of any intelligence is equally scary as it is spectacular, wrote Thursday for the Daily Caller that the spectacle of gays serving openly in the American military if and when the policy known as “don’t ask, don’t tell” is repealed that the draft will likely be reinstated.

In Sydney, Australia, a judge sentenced 36 year old Grant Adrian Edwards to a maximum of three years in prison for killing 48 year old Paul John Siniawski outside a bar on October 2nd, 2009, according to the Morning Herald. The two men, who worked together, met that night at the Old Cooyal Hotel, and when the two talked music, Edwards said he like Marilyn Manson. After one of his songs played on the jukebox, Siniawski said “You must be gay if you like him.” Edmonds denied being gay and challenged Siniawski to fight, saying “Come on, let’s take this outside, it will only take one punch.”
