According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, Michigan's Albion College administrators says it has taken “appropriate action” after confirming that students burned a gay pride flag last month. School President Donna Randall said Wednesday that officials were contact October 19th by a student who claimed that other students had burned the flag, Randall saying that students found the pride flag in a garbage can and decided to burn it. She said that “appropriate action has been taken to address the conduct of the students involved,” but that privacy laws prohibited any additional details.

There has been another alleged hate crime on the campus of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater on Sunday, reports the Wisconsin State Journal, a freshman female attacked by a male who called her gay. UW-Whitewater is not identifying the victim, who was not harmed. Police have released a description of the suspect.

Wednesday, according to the AFP, Vlatko Markovic, the head of the Croatian Football Federation apologised for comments made in an interview published Sunday articulating archaic anti-gay sentiment. “I apologise to all those who were hurt my parts in my interview,” read in part a statement published on the CFF’s website, adding he was “sorry that my comments have been in a way misinterpreted. My intention was in no way to insult or offend anyone ... I have absolutely nothing against members of any minority, especially not against those of homosexual orientation.” The 73 year old insisted that no openly gay soccer player would appear on the national team’s roster while he served as head of the federation, and when asked if he had ever met a gay soccer player, he replied “No, fortunately football is only played by healthy people.”

Tom Brady is new face – and, thankfully, body – of Under Armour, the Boston Herald reporting the New England Patriots’ quarterback signed a multi-year endorsement with the sports gear company that includes an undisclosed financial stake, the deal arriving just after another multi-year endorsement with Nike ended.
