Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council Last Minute Attack On Louisiana Republican Who Voted For Hate Crimes Prevention Act And Repeal Of DADT, Is Glee The New Heroes, The Battle Between Ron Howard And GLAAD, James Marsden Modern Family Picture, Lyndon Ogbourne

The Tony Perkins headed Family Research Council Action political action committee has initiated a campaign against Louisiana Representative Anh Joseph Cao, Republican from New Orleans because he supports gay equality, NOLA.com reporting that an advertisement has appeared days before the election portraying Cao as a politician whose support for homosexual rights at the expense of religious liberty. Perkins said that Cao’s “record is dismal on our issues,” and added that Cao was the only Republican candidate condemned by the anti-gay, barely relevant FRC. The ad says in part “Cao has repeatedly voted for extra protections for homosexuals at the cost of religious liberty. Cao voted to use the military to advance the radical social agendas of homosexual activists and he voted for a so-called hate crimes bill that places your personal liberties at jeopardy.” Mr. Cao did co-sponsor both the Matthew Shepard James Byrd Hate Crimes Protection Act of 2009 and House legislation to repeal the policy that prohibits openly gay service members, and he said of the FRC attacks “I believe it is a human rights violation to impose government-sanctioned penalties on a group of people just because of their sexual orientation, just as it would be a human rights violation to impose penalties on a group because of its religious affiliation or race. I will continue to fight for the protection of human rights for all people.”

As Glee aimlessly ambles into its second season, Movieline.com suggest the show is the new Heroes.

Entertainment Weekly examines the dilemma over the inclusion of a gay joke that isn’t a joke at all in Ron Howard’s soon to be released The Dilemma as well as Anderson Cooper’s now famous referencing of the trailer and GLAAD’s demand that the line – “electric cars are gay” – be removed and Howard’s refusal to do so. The conclusion: both Howard and GLAAD are right and wrong.

Eric Stonestreet tweets a picture of Modern Family guest-star James Marsden, looking seriously sexy.
