Republican New York Gubernatorial Candidate Carl Paladino Stands Behind Anti-Gay Statements; Adds Not Proper To Attend Gay Pride Parades To Watch “A Couple Of Grown Men Grind Against Each Other;” Says That Is “Disgusting”
Angry, frightening, and odd New York State Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino told the NBC Today Show Monday that he does not regret comments made Sunday about homosexuality and gay marriage because “the remarks that I made I believe in,” adding “I’m only responsible for what I say and I’ve always stood behind everything that I’ve said.” He continued saying “My feelings on homosexuality are unequivocal; I have absolutely no problem with it whatsoever. My only reservation is marriage,” mentioning in the interview that he would actively recruit gays to work within his administration if elected, and currently has a number of gay staffers on his campaign team. As for the issue of gay marriage, he said that if elected he will “be a governor for all the people of the state of New York.” Paladino, in a vain attempt to explain his hateful, spectacularly stupid statements of Sunday, said he disagreed with a decision by his Democratic opponent Andrew Cuomo to take his two daughters to a gay pride parade this past June, Paladino saying “I don’t think it’s proper for them to go there and watch a couple of grown men grind against each other. I don’t think that’s proper, I think it’s disgusting.”
