New York City Police Continue Search For Ninth Suspect In Anti-Gay Attacks, Carl Paladino Might Consider Homosexuality Not To Be Valid Option But Prepared To Take Their Money, Anti-Gay Riots Damage Serbia Application To European Union, Malaysia Islamic Party Protests Adam Lambert Performance

ABC News reports that New York City police are conducting a city-wide search for the ninth suspect wanted in connection to the horrific, savage attack and torture of two teenage boys and one adult male, all who they accused of being gay. Police continue to look for 22 year old Rudy Vargas-Perez, denying reports Saturday that he had arranged to turn himself in with the aid of an attorney. NY1, however, reports that Vargas-Perez is to surrender sometime late Tuesday, and adds that the eight suspects already in custody are to appear in court again Thursday.

The Buffalo, New York gay newspaper Outcome on the deeply dangerous Republican New York State gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino, whose anti-gay comments appear at odds with his business practices, the paper reporting that in 2004/05 Paladino rented restaurant space in one of the downtown Buffalo buildings he owns to Buddies 2, a gay bar, and that in 1995 he donated money to the campaign of an openly lesbian candidate for Buffalo City Council. However, ahead of an official visit to Serbia by United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the American Embassy released a statement that said it “commends the professionalism and restraint exercised by police and Belgrade authorities “in ensuring the participants in the Pride Parade were fully protected throughout the event” and that the Embassy “strongly condemn all the many acts of violence committed throughout the city, and call on the perpetrators to be brought to justice.” The police, who describe the rioters as being “extremely well organized and synchronized”, arrested 249 protestors, among them 54 minors. 131 remain in custody. 132 police were injured, as well 25 civilians.

Malaysia’s Islamist opposition party Monday demanded that authorities cancel a scheduled concert by Adam Lambert, saying the openly gay Lambert is promoting “gay culture,” reports Reuters. The Pan Malaysian Islamic Party also threatened to call “as many of its members and supporters” to proselytize to concert attendees if the performance this Thursday goes as planned. Homosexual sex is a criminal offense in Malaysia.
