Mormon Apostle Erroneous Inflammatory Anti-Gay Sermon Text Edited At LDS Website

A speech delivered Sunday by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints apostle Boyd K. Packer that suggested homosexuality was immoral and unnatural and that same sex attraction can and must be overcome through the power of prayer, has now been modified on the church’s website, the Salt Lake Tribune reports. The sentence in the text read Sunday said “Some suppose that they were pre-set and cannot overcome what they feel are inborn tendencies toward the impure and unnatural. Not so! Why would our Heavenly Father do that anyone? Remember he is our father.” “Tendencies” has now been replaced by “temptations” and the sentences about God’s motives have been edited entirely. The LDS Church has yet to comment, the speech soundly condemned as another example of erroneous rhetoric masquerading as fact, the reckless remarks fuelling anti-gay sentiment.

What right does a church have to embed hate in their parishioners by trying to pass it off as "what Jesus wanted"?
