Marchers Mourn Tyler Clementi Dropping Roses From Atop George Washington Bridge
NorthJersey.com reports on a march held Saturday in memory of 18 Tyler Clementi, a group estimated to be 50, most of them who had never met the Rutgers University freshman, walking across the George Washington Bridge, stopping midway to drop roses into the Hudson River honouring Clementi, who took his own life by leaping off the very same bridge September 22nd after his roommate and an accomplice live streamed online an intimate encounter between Clementi and another man. Among those in attendance was Jim Swimm, an openly gay New York City resident who found Clementi’s body floating in the Hudson River September 29th and said that being on the bridge forced him to imagine Clementi’s thoughts in his final moments. Despite the mournful tone of the march, Swimm “There’s got to be something good that can come out of such terrible tragedy. People need to see that there are other people who care.”
