GLSEN Honours Modern Family, Jesse Tyler Ferguson Says He Was “Very Bullied” In School, Jesse Tyler Ferguson And Brad Goreski Picture Perfect, Elton John Wants You To Forget Gloria Gaynor In Favour Of Lady Gaga, Kellan Lutz Sexy In Spain, Ryan Bertroche

The Associated Press on Friday night’s GLSEN Respect Awards, presented by the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, hosted by gay ally Rob Reiner, the event honouring ABC’s Modern Family for its portrayal of a diverse America, including the series’ depiction of a gay couple raising an adopted child, the couple, Cam and Mitchell, played by Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson respectively. Ferguson, who is openly gay, said the evening’s celebration was tempered by the recently reported bully-precipitated gay youth suicides, Ferguson saying “I do have the same sort of mixed feeling, in the light of everything that’s happened. However, I think an event like this echoes the sentiment that we need to change. This cannot continue happening.” Ferguson added that he was “very bullied” in school, saying “I actually had to leave eighth grade and go to another school because it got so bad, so I certainly sympathize with these kids. Honestly, back at my 10-year reunion, I didn’t even remember any of those bullies’ names. Frankly, there weren’t doing nearly as good as me. So it was very vindicating.”

Brad Goreski, in attendance last night, posted this photograph of himself and a really rosy-cheeked Jesse Tyler Ferguson; the two a perfect pair each wearing bowties.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Elton John, soothsayer, says of Lady Gaga’s upcoming release “’Born This Way,’ which is the title song, will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive.’ This is the new ‘I Will Survive.’ That was the gay anthem. This is the new anthem. Actually, it’s not gay anthem – it can apply to anybody.”
