Thankfully, according to the Globe and Mail, the British Columbia Crown Prosecutors’ office has asked provincial court judge Jocelyn Palmer to consider an anti-gay attack on Ritch Dowrey by Shawn Woodward a hate crime, consequently, requesting that Woodward, convicted of aggravated assault, receive a much stronger sentence. The 62 year old Dowrey suffered permanent brain damage as a result of the attack that occurred at a popular Vancouver gay bar, Woodward, when arrested that night repeatedly saying he was not a “faggot” and that the victim deserved it. The sentencing hearing continues.

Mother Jones reports on Joe Miller, the Sarah Palin-endorsed, Tea Party-backed Republican Senate candidate in Alaska, who hired Terry Moffitt, the chairman of the Family Policy Network, an anti-gay group that offers “Hope for Homosexuals,” a program that encourages “practicing homosexuals to ‘come out’ of that destructive lifestyle, and to ‘come home’ to the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ ... While the homosexuals celebrated their perversions, they are confronted with the truth that there is hope for deliverance in Jesus Christ.” The FPN condemns “any efforts to convince society that homosexual behaviour or ‘being gay’ is somehow normal or natural,” and contends that God will punish individuals and the nation for rejecting the laws of nature, tolerating, so to speak, homosexuality. Moffitt received $2,500 for consulting services, though it is not known what that service entailed, Miller not having campaigned largely on an opposition to gay rights, although in July he authored a letter to Alaskan voters underlining that “the traditional Christian view” remains that “homosexuality is a sin, and therefore immoral.”

The Broward/Palm Beach New Times reports that 19 year old Shane Thompson, who appears in gay porn under the moniker Jason Creed, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty in Boca Raton, Florida, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office saying that Thompson took his three-legged, wolf-dog mix named Moonshine to the Cole Animal Clinic October 7th. He allegedly told a staff member that the dog had died that morning from a seizure, and that he wanted Moonshine cremated. The dog appeared to have suffered blunt trauma, a veterinarian determining that it died from suffocation, likely from someone choking it.
