The New York Times City Room reports that angry, odd New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino Tuesday admitted he made some missteps in communicating his platform during the campaign, Paladino telling WOR-AM that his anti-gay comments “definitely stepped on my message.” Paladino stopped well short, however, of retracting his ludicrous, often lurid statements on gay pride parades, again attacking Democratic rival Andrew Cuomo telling Curtis Sliwa on WYNM-AM “If he’s really a father, you don’t bring your children and expose them to that nonsense. That’s like taking your kid to a strip show.”
Serbian prosecutors announced Tuesday that they have begun a criminal investigation against Mladen Obradovic, the leader of the Obraz (or Honour) a far-right nationalist organization accused of orchestrating the riotous anti-gay protests in Belgrade Sunday, the Associated Press reporting that more than 150 people were injured in a running battle between the anti-gay extremists and police attempting to protecting Gay Pride Parade participants. The state prosecutors’ office added that another 130 individuals are under investigation for attempting to disrupt the parade.
Also from the Associated Press, the Human Rights Campaign says it has collected more than 150,000 letters requesting that a senior Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leader, Boyd. K. Packer recant recent anti-gay remarks he made delivering a sermon October 3rd suggesting that homosexuality was immoral and unnatural and that same sex attraction can and must be overcome through the power of prayer. The letters, readied for deliver to church headquarters in Salt Lake City Tuesday, ask that Packer correct his fallacious statements. The HRC plans a press conference prior to delivery Tuesday.
