Russian Gay Rights Activist Nikolai Alekseev Permitted To Protest Airlines Not Celebrate Sexual Minorities, Troy Williams, Annise Parker, Brad Goreski Left Rachel Zoe A Little Less Amiably Than Let On, Aaron Tveit, Joe Jonas Stained Jeans, Ryan Gosling Rocks A Tank Top

Interfax reports that the leading Russian gay rights advocate Nikolai Alekseev has been granted permission by the prefectures of Moscow’s Central Administrative District to hold a protest, but not a parade, a statement released by the prefecture’s spokesperson reading “The district prefecture officially states that its official gave no consent for a gay pride parade to be held on October 1, contrary to what gay pride parade organizer Nikolai Alekseev wrote in his blog. Alekseev asked for permission to hold this rally after an incident that happened to him at a Moscow airport. The incident was not directly related with sexual minorities. After receiving an application the prefecture gave consent for holding the picket. The application did not state that the protest has anything to do with sexual minorities. If the picket turns into a rally other than as stated in the application, law enforcement agencies will be ordered to immediately disperse the rally.” The protest is scheduled to take place October 1st, between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm, and Alekseev has yet to comment on whether he intends to obey or defy the authorities, acting Moscow Mayor Vladimir Resin saying Wednesday that he intends to continue fired mayor Yuri Luzhkov’s stance of anti-gay hate and forbid any and all authorizations of gay pride parades in the Russian capital.

The Salt Lake Tribune profiles Troy Williams, the 40 year old “Mayor of Salt Lake City,” who in 1991 returned from his Mormon mission to Great Britain determined to continue doing the sacred work of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including defending the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman. Williams baptized ten converts to the LDS faith until coming out, saying “I had sublimated my sexuality into religion, as Mormon gays usually do,” Williams saying he was “saved” by his gayness.

Houston Mayor Annise Parker, the first openly gay elected mayor of a major American city, tells Business Week that since elected to office she no longer receives death threats, adding that “People assume the toughest decision in my life was coming out. But being gay isn’t tough – it’s who I am. What’s been tough is learning how to be social, and how to adapt to public life.”

Yesterday, I posted a People magazine piece that the parting of stylist Rachel Zoe and Brad Goreski was peaceful, the decision an amicable one. Today, Popeater.com reports that their separation was anything but amiable, writing that “Brad was sick of doing all the work while Rachel got all the credit, while Rachel feels used by Brad. She feels as if she taught him everything and the second he got a chance to leave her high and dry he did.” Popeater.com adds that high drama between the two at New York Fashion week in early September marked the beginning of the end, “the final straw was when Brad appeared on the cover of the New York Times style section. Rachel hit the roof and reminded him he was her assistant and it was called ‘The Rachel Zoe’ show not the Brad Goreski show. That was the moment that the two of them were over.”

Paper magazine presents Aaron Tveit, who appears in Howl as Peter Orlovksy, longtime lover of Allen Ginsberg, played by James Franco. Hotness abounds.
