A Singapore man has been charged with having breached the city-state’s ban on sexual acts between men, 47 year old Tan Eng Hong alleged to have engaged in oral sex in public washroom in a mall in March. While homosexuality is not illegal in Singapore, homosexual sex remains a criminal act under the penal code, despite amendments made in 2007 that legalized oral and anal sex for heterosexuals. According to reports, 185 individuals were convicted under of committing heterosexual acts of sex between 1997 and 2006. Mr. Hong was released on bail, the case adjourned until September 27th.
An update on Duke University and the former chairman of the campus College Republicans, Justin Robinette who was impeached in the spring of 2010 allegedly because he is gay, Wednesday the Duke Student Government Senate began the process of de-chartering the group, defunded them because the club has and continues to demonstrate a “culture of discrimination.” The Student Organization Finance Committee will make the final determination on the group’s charter at a meeting likely to be held in the next two to three weeks.
An American Air Force Academy alumni event scheduled for November has been cancelled, the cancellation itself now the source of confused conflict between the two groups who sponsored the event and the Academy itself. OutServe and Blue Academy had organized the dinner for November 12th at Doolittle Hall, on the centre of the Air Force Academy, available for public bookings, and was to recognize the contributions made to United States Air Force by gay and lesbian service members. Given the current climate of anger and frustration at the colossal failure to repeal an archaic policy that prevents openly gay men and women from serving in all branches of the armed forces, the Academy thought it best to cancel entirely the event, thinking it to be an attempt to embarrass the Air Force. OutServe’s membership exists of hundreds of active-duty personal who would, under that policy, be discharged if their identities were to be made public.
Tom Hardy appeared an event Monday night celebrating Mulberry’s Fashion Night Out Celebration at Selfridges department store in London. Trust me; it is Tom and it is more than enough.
Also in London, British GQ honoured its Men of the Year, the very blue-eyed Nicholas Hoult and chic cheek boned Ed Westwick in attendance.
