Hollyoaks Star Kieron Richardson Comes Out
Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson has come out. The actor, who character on the British Channel 4 series is about to have a homosexual relationship, was the subject of speculation about his sexual orientation when he appeared on season three of Britain’s Dancing On Ice, but at the time Richardson denied allegations he was gay. Wednesday, according to the Daily Mail (There is video at the source), he appeared on This Morning and made the announcement, saying “When I was on Dancing On Ice, the newspapers speculated and tried to say we kind of know and if you want to say so, you do your story with us and get it out there. At that point, my personal life took a back step and it was more about the competition and trying to get through the next week rather than get a few column inches in the newspaper and maybe raise my profile at the time. But it wasn’t about that. But now I feel that it’s relevant and the storyline’s relevant to some situations in my life then if maybe I can help people that are going through the same thing then it’s a bonus.” The 20 year old said that he was teased about his sexuality at school, but not bullied, and he hoped that by coming out he could serve as role model for others. “There were one or two people,” he said of school, “if somebody is gay they can maybe sense it and they might have said one or two comments. They can hurt if you’re like 14 or 15 in school. Now I feel I’m a lot stronger, I’m older and nothing can hurt me anymore.”
