The Atlanta Journal Constitution on United States Senator Saxby Chambliss (Republican, Georgia) confirmed that an anti-gay comment left on the blog Joe. My. The Atlanta Journal Constitution also reporting that a third lawsuit was filed Wednesday against New Birth Missionary Baptist Church leader, Bishop Eddie Long, 23 year old Jamal Parris alleging that Long made the former summer camp counsellor called him “Daddy” and coerced him into sexual acts. Long, historically anti-gay, denied today’s charges and has scheduled a press conference for Thursday morning. According to the suit, Parris and his mother joined the church in 2001 at the age of 14. Within a two week timeframe, Long gave Parris his cell phone number, their relationship intensifying during the 2004/2005 school year, “Initially, Long engaged in sexual touching during their encounters and then escalated the activity to oral sodomy and other acts of sexual gratification. Long would discuss the Holy Scripture to justify and support the sexual activity.” Parris claims he left the church in 2009 “disillusioned, confused, and angry.” Although not commenting directly on the suit, Republican gubernatorial candidate cancelled a fundraising event this Friday that Bishop Long was to co-host. Because all three of plaintiffs may have been underage in states Long took them to, the United Justice Department is said to be conducting its own investigation.
