Despite Request No Same Sex Couples Captured On St. Louis Busch Stadium Kiss-Cam, British Cricketer Poses Nude For British-Based Gay Magazine

St. Louis Today reports that despite a request, Busch Stadium’s Kiss-Cam captured couple’s young and old, and in between, but no same sex couples of any age. At Saturday’s MLB game between the hometown St. Louis Cardinals and the visiting San Diego Padres, an estimated 200 gay and lesbian fans participated in an event called OUT at the Ballpark, the first held in St. Louis. Ethan Barnett, a St. Louis Pride board member who helped organized the outing said “We’re really excited about it. It’s the first time the Cardinals have gone so far as to look us up as a community and approach us. Everyone’s been welcoming.” On Monday, a conversation concerning an appearance by one of the gay and lesbian fans on the Busch Stadium Kiss-Cam began, after a moment last Sunday at a St. Louis Rams game when the camera came upon two male fans wearing identical Arizona Cardinals jerseys, the crowd laughing, and then booing, the implication that the two were gay. Several in the city’s gay community questioned why the Rams would attempt to embarrass fans by suggesting they’re gay? Unfortunately, except for one young man and his mother, all of Saturday’s second inning Kiss-Cam coverage featured heterosexual pairings; nonetheless the OUT event was considered a success by all those involved.

28 year old Jimmy Anderson, an English cricketer, is about to become the first professional player to appear naked on the cover of Attitude, the United Kingdom-based gay magazine, the Associated Press reports.
Anderson, married and straight, said that he was “more than prepared” to strip for the cover, and added that “If there are any gay cricketers, they should feel confident enough to come out, because I don’t think there is homophobia in cricket.” Anderson said that if and when a gay cricketer comes out “I’d throw them a special gay cricket tea.” Attitude editor Matthew Todd said that Anderson’s in the all the together pose sends a “strong, playful signal” that athletes can be comfortable with homosexuality among teammates and fans. The issue is on sale September 21st.
