The Conservative party Foreign Secretary says his male special advisor has resigned over “malicious” claims that the two have had an inappropriate relationship. 49 year old William Hague – who has been the subject of great online speculation that he is indeed gay – denied that he and 25 year old Christopher Myers, an aide for 18 months, were romantically involved , adding that his marriage was not in trouble. “Any suggestion that his appointment was due to an improper relationship between us is utterly false, as is any suggestion that I have ever been involved in a relationship with any man,” said Hague, who added that the rampant rumours “seems to stem from the fact that whilst campaigning before the election we occasionally shared twin hotel rooms. He (Myers) has now told me that, as a result of the pressure on his family from the untrue and malicious allegations made about him, he does not wish to continue in his position.”
