A 51 year old man walking through an area of Brighton, England known as a gay cruising area was attacked by three teenagers Friday night. Sussex police are investigating the attack, which took place at Duke's Mound, as a bias motivated crime, but they emphasis the event was an isolated one.
Former JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater appeared briefly in Queens Supreme Court Tuesday, his attorney Daniel Horwitz speaking entirely on behalf of client, who did not enter a plea, Horwitz saying “We’re looking for as favourable a disposition for Mr. Slater as we can.” According to Assistant District Attorney Benjamin Mantell, there have been negotiations for a plea deal, Slater having been charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and trespassing, but prosecutors evaluating Slater to determine if he qualifies for an alternative jail sentencing program wherein he would serving time. That program is in place primarily for returning war veterans whose mental health issues contributed to their crime. Slater is due back in court October 19th.
Societal oddity Dan Hampton (defensive tackle of the Super Bowl winner 1985 Chicago Bears; NFL Hall of Fame) appeared on Pro Football Weekly’s television show and, previewing the NFC East said of Dallas “The Cowboys think they are Clint Eastwood; they’re more of the Brokeback variety if you know what I’m talking about.” To be fair, he is something of democratic idiot, spreading stupidity far and wide, later in the same program saying of the NFL 2010 season opener between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints “The Viking need to go down there and hit that town like Katrina.”

Danny Miller, the 19 year old straight actor who plays gay character Aaron Livesy on British serial Emmerdale, won two TV Choice Awards, best Soap Actor and his character earned Best Soap Storyline. After the ceremony, Miller said “I’m going to have a nice drink now, and then get absolutely bladdered.”
