Steven Slater Sprung From Jail, Costa Rica Court Blocks Same Sex Civil Union Referendum Saying Gays Minority That Must Be Protected By Government, American Bar Association Wants All Gays And Lesbians Be Able To Marry, National Organization For Marriage Invades North Carolina With Anti-Gay Nonsense, Mika Makes Guys With iPhones Appearance, Marc Jacobs Photographed By Nan Goldin, Channing Tatum

Steven Slater has been released on bail from a correctional facility in the Bronx, New York. The 39 year old JetBlue flight attendant, whose late father was an airline pilot, appeared in the same tee-shirt and plaid shorts he was wearing when arrested at his home in Queens Monday after an event onboard Flight 1052 from Pittsburgh to New York City that involved an altercation with an aggressively disobedient passenger that led to Slater announcing he was quitting in a manner best described as memorable. He is charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and trespassing. Tonight Slater told reporters that “it seems like something here has resonated with a few people. And that’s kinda neat.”

Costa Rica’s Constitutional Court ruled Tuesday that the electoral tribunal cannot hold a referendum that would allow voters to determine if same sex civil unions should be allowed because it would place a minority at a disadvantage. The Court, in a 5-2 decision, said that as a group homosexuals represent a minority that is disadvantaged and that is the target for discrimination. Consequently, the court argued that the government is required to protect their rights. It added that gay civil unions are a legislative issue and not an electoral one. The electoral tribunal intended to hold the referendum in the largely Roman Catholic country December 5th to correspond with the country’s municipal elections.

The American Bar Association policy creating House of Delegates passed a motion Tuesday that all gays and lesbians should hold the right to marry in civil ceremonies, incoming ABA president Stephen Zack saying “why would anyone in this country not want two people who love each other to enjoy the blessings of marriage and the protections of law?” Former ABA head Tommy Wells said before the vote that “our citizens of the same sex who are being denied the right to a civil marriage are only seeking to participate in an equal basis in a foundational institutional of our civil life. They simply want to share in the legal blessings that we give to married couples. It can only strengthen marriage.”

More National Organization for Marriage nonsense, the embarrassingly ineffective “One Man, One Woman” summer tour for traditional marriage in Raleigh, North Carolina, where crowds were estimated to be in the tens gathered in front of the state capital buildings to hear that the Bible considers homosexuality an abomination, while across the street counter-protestors yelled “Get you hate out of our state.”
