Political Action Committee Forms In Iowa Aiming To Unseat Supreme Court Justices Who Ruled Gay Marriage Legal, GOProud Thinks That Listening To Anti-Gay Ann Coulter Spew More Fun Than Chaining Yourself To Fence, Gay Marriage Showdown In Atlanta Saturday, Drake University Fraternity Brother Charged With Drugging Then Repeatedly Sexually Assaulted Fellow Frat Brother

An anti-gay marriage political action committee has formed in Iowa – Common Sense PAC – whose only goal is to unseat three justices who face a retention vote November 2nd, 2010, all of whom voted in favour of a ruling that found the state’s gay marriage ban unconstitutional in 2009. The ruling was unanimous – 7-0 – but only Justices David Baker, Michael Streit, and Chief Justice Marsha Ternus on the ballot this year. Dennis Guth, a farmer from Klemme, Iowa, the group’s spokesperson, said “We’ve decided we’ve been sitting on the sidelines for way too long. We needed to get involved,” adding that “Our chances of success this year are as good as they’re ever going to be. We just want to clean house and start out fresh.” According to Guth, the group has purchased enough black plywood material to create 75 signs they hope to place state-wide.

GOProud, the Republican organization that claims to represent gay conservatives and their allies, announced that Ann Coulter will be headlining their first annual Homocon in New York City, on September 25th. Coulter, who gives shrill stupidity a bad name, has historically employed anti-gay slurs to attack political figures, most notably John Edwards, whom she called a “faggot” and Al Gore, whom she called a “total fag.” Christopher Barron, the chairman of the board, said that “The gay left has done their best to take all the fun out of politics, with their endless list of boycotts and protests. Homocon is going to be our annual effort to counter the ‘no fun police’ on the left. I can’t think of any conservative more fun to headline our inaugural party then the self-professed ‘right-wing Judy Garland’ – Ann Coulter” Tickets for the event are $250 with sponsorship tickets priced at $2,500. Barron added “I can promise you, Homocon 2010 will be a hell of a lot more fun than chaining yourself to the White House fence.”

Last night, I posted on the crazy than crazy can be Sharron Angle, Republican candidate for the Senate from Arizona, and her deeply frightening answers to a series of 36 yes or no questions. One of the questions I did not report on what her answer to the following, question 35A: “Would you refuse PAC money from those who fundamentally opposed to your views on social issues?” Angle checked yes. The questionnaire then asked “In reference to question35A, Intel Corporation supports ‘equal rights for gays’ and offer benefits to ‘partners’ of homosexual employees. Would you refuse funds from this corporate PAC?” She again answered yes.

Saturday, a gay marriage showdown in Atlanta, Georgia looms, The Queer Justice League of Atlanta hosting an event in support of the ruling Wednesday by Chief United States District Judge Vaughn Walker that struck down California’s gay marriage – Proposition 8 – as being unconstitutional. The rally will begin at 12:30 pm at Woodruff Park in the downtown. At the same time Brian Brown and his National Organization for Marriage summer “One Man, One Woman” anti-gay marriage tour will hosted an event in front of the steps of the Capital building.

A Drake University student was charged Wednesday with third-degree felony sex abuse for allegedly sexually assaulting a fellow fraternity member. 21 year old Anthony Bertolone of the Sigma Chi fraternity was booked and released. The male victim, a friend of Bertolone, found pictures and videos of him being sexual abused on Bertolone’s computer. According to police, the victim says he has no recollection of the events, and authorities state that “in the video, he incoherent, very, very obviously.” Police believe the assaults occurred multiple times beginning in the fall of 2009.
