Iowa Republican Candidate Jeremy Walters Offers An Apology For Facebook Rant, Germany Considers Changing Tax System To Create Equality For Gay Couples, Poll Suggests More Rhode Islanders Support Gay Marriage, San Francisco Police Investigating Gay Bashing On Muni, Rafael Brito, Hunter Parrish Perfect, Stephen Collins Added As Gay Lover On Brothers And Sisters, Chris Colfer On His Cat And Being A Gay Role Model, Zac Efron And A Weak Beard

Jeremy Walters, the Republican candidate for state House, says that he now regrets the controversial seemingly anti-gay diatribe that appeared on his Facebook last week, and that have since been removed, and of which I posted about previously. The comments, which implied HIV/AIDS served as a Biblical punishment against homosexuality, issued a statement that read in part “I am not against people having a gay lifestyle, and the statements made on Facebook have been taken the wrong way. The statement regarding gay homosexuality was not meant to be offensive and I deeply apologize. As far as the quote from Bible: I was replying to someone elses (sic) post. It should have been posted as a comment on their page, not my Facebook wall. I apologize for the mistake and if this statement offened (sic) anyone. Both postings have been removed and these comments do not pertain to my campaign or the Republican Party of Iowa. My passion is to listen and learn from the people so I can represent them at the statehouse. Everyone makes mistakes, please forgive me.”

In the wake of ruling earlier this week by German’s Supreme Court that found homosexuals are entitled to the same inheritance tax standards as those enjoyed by heterosexuals, the country’s justice minister, Sabin Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger said Thursday she believes that homosexuals legal partners should be afforded the identical income tax breaks as those allowed married heterosexuals.

A new poll finds that more Rhode Islanders now favour supporting gay marriage more than at any other time. David Walker, the vice president of Greenberg Quinlan and Rosner Research, who conducted the poll, says that “it shows, for the first time, a convincing majority of Rhode Island voters supporting equality. Marriage equality is inevitable. The Questions is not whether, but when.” Rhode Island remains one of two New England states that does not allow gay marriage. Maine did, but a voter amendment in November, 2009, repealed the law, replacing it with a ban on same sex marriage.

The San Francisco Police Department are investigating after Zachary Davenport was beaten while onboard the city’s Muni transit system in the early hours of Saturday, August 14th. Davenport who is 26 years old was returning to his Castro area home and tells police when the near empty train stopped at the Church and Market street station, a group of 18 to 20 year olds boarded “making lots of noise and being really loud.” Feeling unsafe, he decided to depart, doing so his bag got caught on one of the men who said “Watch it, faggot.” Davenport said “Excuse me?” He says another man from the group approached and said “What, What faggot? What? Move, faggot.” At this point Davenport says he was hit hard in the face, tried to hit back, but was struck in the back of the head by another male. He ran for help; a woman called 911 and the police arrived, according to Davenport some ten minutes later. “I was expecting them to go look for (the assailants) right then, they were getting away,” he says, but adds that instead the police took the time to question him. Muni officials are reviewing transit security tapes, and the police are investing the attack as a hate crime. So far, none of the suspects have been caught.

Rafael Brito plays Polaroid modelling various makes of underwear.

Hunter Parrish – a smoking sexy photo shoot.

Stephen Collins – father on the late WB’s 7th Heaven has signed on to appear on ABC’s Brothers and Sisters as the age appropriate love of Ron Rifkin’s recently out character of Saul in what is apparently a multi-episode arc.

Chris Colfer says he models his Glee character of Kurt Hummel on his dear, departed childhood cat, Simon, saying that “Kurt is so my cat. Simon thought he was so superior to everyone else. He would look down and frown upon them. He used to stretch and count his claws in fronts of us and he was just so grand and had the biggest head.” Colfer, who came out publically in December, 2009, says sometimes the pressure of being a perceived role model for gay youth can prove frustrating. “Sometimes the stories people want from me, I just don’t have them,” Chris says. “They want me to tell inspirational stories about being gay in high school, but I don’t have those. I was an outcast because I was weird, not because of sexual orientation ... I think how I carry myself and how I behave from now on will speak for itself.”
