21 year old Dane Holdsworth, from Leeds, England is recovered after being violently attacked by two men who questioned him about his rainbow coloured pride wristband. Police in Leeds confirm that they are investigating the incident that occurred Friday evening, hours before the city’s annual Gay Pride Parade. Holdsworth says he was leaving work as a bartender at the city’s Viaduct Bar, and walking to his father’s home when approached by two men who seeing the wristband asked whether he was gay. “I said ‘yeah’- I’m not going to lie about it. They looked as if they were just going to walk off, then as they walked past me one them grabbed me and pulled me down and they just started laying into me,” said Holdsworth. “I passed out while they were hitting me. One of them sat on top of me while the other was hitting me. And then I think one of them bit me and then they tried to strangle me.” Dane says that the attack has affected him emotionally as well as physically, and left him fearful. “I didn’t choose to be gay,” he said, “I can help how I feel about people. I don’t flaunt it, I don’t push it in people’s faces, but when people are coming up to you and hitting you for being gay ... I didn’t think it would happen now, I thought everything was gay-friendly. But it’s not at all.”

Police in Jerusalem are investigating after two gay men were attacked hours after the city celebrated its eighth annual Gay Pride Parade, the two allegedly assaulted by two teenagers who shouted “death to gay, all of you should be killed.” 24 year old Gil Engelstein, one of the victims said that “it depresses me a great deal, especially because I’m a former Jerusalemite. He and the second victim, who wishes to remain unidentified, were repeatedly punched, but did not require medical attention.

Erin Vaught, a transgendered woman says that she was humiliated by hospital staff at Ball Memorial in Muncie, Indiana, and that she was eventually denied treatment despite being at the emergency room coughing up blood. Vaught said that when she, her wife, and her son went to the ER July 16th she was wrongly entered in the hospital computer system as male, and when she went to correct the mistake, she was met with ridicule, at one point referred to by staff as “he-she” and as a “transvestite.” The hospital, a teaching hospital affiliated with Ball State University, is investigating.
