Fredericton New Brunswick Prepares To Celebrate First-Ever Gay Pride Parade, Reykjavik Mayor Celebrates Pride Donning Drag, Ryan Leslie Continues To Act Out Anti-Gay, Tim Tebow Treasure Trail, How Close Are Colt McCoy And Jordan Shipley, Jonas Brothers Take The Field

Sunday, Fredericton, New Brunswick celebrates its first-ever Gay Pride Parade, remarkably, for a number of reasons, mostly because the provincial capital has cultivated a reputation as being less than welcoming to gay men and women. In 1995, Mayor Brad Woodside refused to proclaim Pride week, and three years later, following a complaint, the provincial Human Rights Commission ordered him to issue the proclamation: he did, but with the microphone deliberately turned away, the proclamation inaudible. He later apologized, but his actions created a climate where homophobia appeared acceptable. This year, however, the Rainbow Flag went up outside city hall, and Woodside himself has promised to march in the parade –if, he said, he is in town.

Reykjavik, Iceland mayor Jon Gnarr, elected in June, dressed in drag to mark the beginning of the country’s capital Gay Pride Festival, telling the crowd that “the mayor unfortunately could not attend himself.”

The deeply closeted and dangerous Ryan Leslie, of MTV’s The Real World latest tweet takes homophobia and HIV/AIDS discrimination to the lower depths.

McCoy’s college roommate and favourite Texas Longhorns wide receiver Jordan Shipley (drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals) attended Colt’s recent wedding, and Jordan serenaded McCoy, taking a swipe at Tim Tebow in the process, and further fuelling rumours that Colt and Jordan are a lot more than friends.
