Ottawa Police Agree To Review Disclosure Policy After “Sexual Predator” Media Release, Thanks To Harriet Yaffe No One Will Mistake Ogunquit Maine For Provincetown, Nick Youngquest Gets Nude For Testicular Cancer, Rafael Nadal Plays In The Sea, Tim Morehouse Model Citizen, Cam Gigandet

Ottawa police, thankfully, announced that they are reviewing their disclosure policy, the result of the department releasing a photograph of Steven Paul Boone, alleged to have knowingly infecting others with a sexually transmitted disease. In May, Boone was charged with nine counts of aggravated sexual assault after another man alleged that he contracted an infectious disease after meeting Boone in late January, 2010. Police contend that they released the booking photograph, along with his medical status, to media outlets in an effort to ensure all his sexual partners were informed and took steps to seek medical care. In addition to violating Boone’s right to privacy, the decision contributed to the continual stigmatization of sexually infectious illnesses.

Code Enforcement Officer Paul Lempicki of Ogunquit, Maine requested last week that the bartenders at Mainstreet, a gay bar, remain fully clothed while serving alcohol to customers, saying that shirtless bartenders presented a “health hazard.” According to reports, the request, which also included one to cover up and disguise liquor bottles that were once visible in the bar’s window, was the result of a number of complaints made by resident Harriet Yaffe, who said “I love Ogunquit and I love the gay men. I have no problems with anyone. I just don’t want a tacky town. You just don’t do this. It’s going to be another P-town.”
