Joe McElderry Comes Out, Tom Hardy Backs Away From Bisexual Coming Out, Essex County Suspends Undercover Public Park Sex Patrol, Catholic Church Condemns Jerusalem Pride, Ricky Martin Autobiography, Rick Malambri, Sam Worthington Is Simply Sex, Cristiano Ronaldo

Joe McElderry has come out. The 19 year old X-Factor champion had his Twitter account recently hacked, someone tweeting that “It’s been difficult living a lie for so many years.” McElderry says “I was really angry at first – thinking, ‘How dare they hack me? But after a while I looked at the message and thought, ‘Well, they’re not that far from the truth.’ I think the Twitter thing was the point when I realised I was gay. I just looked at it and thought, ‘Should I be more bothered about this’? Because I wasn’t, that’s when it clicked and I thought maybe I was. It was a turning point, definitely.” His entire coming out, like McElderry, is very cute and sincere.

Tom Hardy is apparently backing away from his admittance that he is bisexual, a close friend saying that the actor’s recent statements about being attracted to me was “all taken out of context ... he was discussing a gay role and quotes coming from the character.” Hardy has played one gay character, in Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla.

Essex County, New Jersey Sheriff Armando Fontoura announced Friday that the department has suspended an undercover patrol meant to monitor gay men who use a part of Branch Brook Park in Newark for sexual activity after an undercover detective shot and killed an unarmed Atlanta CEO DeFarra Gaymon. Fontoura said that “we’ve temporarily suspended the undercover operation there, but we’re increasing uniformed patrol at Branch Brook. It’s on hold for now. We’re looking to tweak it and make some adjustments.” Gaymon was shot July 16th, and the Essex Country Prosecutor’s office is still investigating the shooting, and no charges have been filed. The detective was a part of a five year undercover operation that Fontoura contends was motivated by complaints from park goers about the area being used as a pickup spot for gay men. Garden State Equality, the state’s largest gay advocacy group, has requested that documents related to previous public lewdness arrests made at the park since 2005, stating that any operation “targeting gay men or LGBT people specifically, or anyone perceived as such, is unconscionable – and we strongly believe, illegal.”

The Catholic Church in Israel has criticised authorities for allowing a gay pride parade to march through the streets of Jerusalem. Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal said that the eighth annual parade, which attracted 3,000 participants, “its organizers and the authorities who allow it, care neither for the feelings of families nor the holiness of this city,” adding that gays can “have their parade wherever they want” as long as that is not in Jerusalem.

Ricky Martin’s autobiography Me is scheduled to be released November 2nd.
