Bruce LaBruce L.A. Zombie Banned By Australian Censors, Australian Men Swimmer Sexiness Jayden Hadler, Rafael Nadal Hits The Beach, Anti-Gay Protect Marriage Washington Continue Efforts To Keep Secret R-71 Signatures, Lindsay Lohan To Serve 14 Days Of 90-Day Sentence, Enrique Iglesias Snaps Picture Of His Package, Ian Somerhalder Treasure Trail, Nick Jonas

Canadian artist Bruce LaBruce’s gay porn zombie film L.A. Zombie has been banned by Australian censors and will not be shown as a part of the Melbourne Film Festival as planned, the first time in seven years the festival has censored a film, that being Larry Clark's 2003 work Ken Park. L.A. Zombie, ostensibly about an alien zombie who wanders the streets of Los Angeles and attempting to return the dead to life through sex, according to LaBruce also acts “as a kind of document of the epidemic of homelessness that currently ravages the city.” He added that the film “is debuting in competition at the Locarano Film Festival in two weeks. The film obviously has artistic merit or it wouldn’t be in competition at an A-list film festival. It’s (the film) a reaction against the cynical torture porn films that routinely show the rape of women. I’m just showing a creature that actually is an empathetic alien that brings people back to life.” L.A Zombie will have its North American premiere this September at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In June, the United States Supreme Court voted 8-1 against the anti-gay marriage group Protect Marriage Washington, ruling that the names of those who signed a petition seeking to place Referendum 71 on a ballot last November in an attempt to overturn a state gay rights law must be made public, and now Protect Marriage Washington are headed back to court, to a lower court, in fact, that of Judge Benjamin Settle, who last September blocked the release of the names on the same petitions, to have that ruling overturned. Protect Marriage Washington is seeking a specific exemption from state election laws that require the release of signatures on any and all referendums.
