British Government Moves Towards Legalizing Gay Marriage, Focus On The Family Angry Google Intends To Cover Same Sex Domestic Partner Health Benefits, True Blood’s Nelsan Ellis Supports Gay Marriage, Justin Gaston Nude, Arthur Sales Festival

The British Coalition equalities minister, Lynne Featherstone said that the government is considering allowing same sex couples to include critical religious elements in civil partnership ceremonies. If approved, the proposal would make civil partnerships similar to traditional weddings.

Google announced Thursday that it would be compensating the company’s gay employees for tax inequities – paying the taxes paid on domestic partner’s health benefits – and predictably anti-gay group Focus on the Family is upset, saying that “if Google wants to be truly fair to its employees, it should consider extra compensation to married heterosexuals who are bitten every April 15 by the marriage-penalty tax,” said spokesperson Gary Schneeberger. “How is offering more money to only one group to offset a perceived inequity not a form of discrimination against those groups not fortunate enough to receive such bonuses?”

The wonderful Nelsan Ellis, who plays Lafayatte on HBO’s True Blood, in interviewed in Vibe Magazine and is asked about gay marriage. Ellis says “I support it. Thin anybody should – I mean, I have my religious views but I don’t choose to oppress them on anybody. I think in this country, anybody can do whatever they want to do as long as it’s not hurting anybody else or violating the laws of society. If you want to get married to a man then get married to a man. If two women want to get married they should get married. It’s not hurting me. The beautiful thing about this country is that I can be a Christian and feel free to do so. Or somebody cannot be a Christian and do whatever that entails. Or somebody can be a Christian and still be gay and I support it. Let gay people get married.”
