Violent Harassment Of Gay Teen At Valders High School In Wisconsin Ignored, Savannah Rally In Response To Gay Bashing By Marines, St, Petersburg Russian Prevents Pride Parade, Vanessa Carlton Comes Out As Bisexual At Nashville Pride, James Franco Would Play 100 Gay Parts, Lady Gaga Permanently Banned From New York Yankees Clubhouse

Gregg Udulutch came out in 2009 during his junior year at Valders High School in Wisconsin and says that during his senior year he was constantly harassed, including receiving death threats, but that the authorities he reported the harassment to, including the police did little or nothing to offer protection, the Chief of Police even suggesting that Udulutch was exaggerating the situation. Udulutch says that at the beginning of the 2009/2010 academic year, two freshman girls began calling him anti-gay slurs, including “fag” and that he and his friends promptly reported the situation to the assistant principal and the activities director, who promised to begin an investigation. However, the harassment persisted, and Udulutch continued to report it. Nothing was done, and on April 16th, Udulutch, who lives in the country with his parents, received two threatening phone calls from an unidentified caller, terrorizing the young man, telling him “we’re going to find you, we’re going to cut you, we’re going to kill you.” The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department investigate, Chief William Riesterer coming to campus to meet with Udulutch, telling him that the threatening phones calls were akin to toilet-papering a house – a prank – as well as implying that the gay youth was a liar, and needed merely to mature. When contacted and asked to comment on the systemic failure of the department to address an obvious example of homophobia, Chief Riesterer said “this is not, in my opinion, a newsworthy story.”

In Savannah, Georgia Sunday a rally in response to the beating of 26 year old Kieran Daly by two Marines, the rally a protest and a call to action, in particular for Georgia to pass a hate crime law. Kevin Clark of the Savannah chapter of the gay advocacy group Georgia Equality, called for leadership from elected officials and from the police, saying that “it should only take one or two individuals who have been attacked or know of others who have been attacked to get the attention of someone in leadership in this community – that in our opinion should have stepped forward way before now and condemned the violence and put out a loud call for swift just action here.”

St. Petersburg, Russia authorities have again banned a Gay Pride parade, city hall informing the organizers that the route applied for will be unavailable next Saturday.

In Nashville, Tennessee, thousands gathered Saturday to celebrate the city’s 22nd Annual Pride Festival, where Vanessa Carlton, a performer, told the crowd “I’ve never said this before, but I am a proud bisexual woman.”

James Franco says he is not concerned playing gay characters, Franco adding that “the worst downside, and I don’t consider this a downside, the worst thing that anybody could say is that I was gay and if somebody said that I guess they would be wrong, but I also wouldn’t care and as far as being typecast, that’s not the case, nonetheless I would be happy to play 100 gay roles for as long as they were always good parts.”

The New York Yankees announced that Lady Gaga has been banned indefinitely from the team’s clubhouse, after a disastrous and disturbing visit post-game Friday. According to reports, Gaga and two girlfriends made their way to the clubhouse, uninvited, and proceeded to spend a half hour meeting six players, including Alex Rodriguez, who she allegedly fondled. Gaga was reportedly drinking from a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey, wearing an outfit of an oversized Yankees jersey overtop a black fishnet bra and matching bikini bottom. The ban seems a tad harsh: I’m often at the ballpark in the very same outfit.
