Vancouver Police have released photographs of the two men, suspects in the assault against a gay couple June 12th. David Holtzman and his partner Peter Reiger were returning to their home when they found two men urinating on the steps of the townhouse they share. After asking the men to stop, the men allegedly attacked the middle-aged couple, shouting anti-gay slurs. Police, who are investigating the incident as a hate crime, are asking the public for help in identifying the two suspects.

Brianna Freeman of Lewiston, Maine, a transgendered woman banned from using a woman’s washroom at a Denny’s in Auburn, Maine, is suing the owner of the franchise. The 45 year old Freeman says she is not seeking any monetary damages, but rather the right to use the woman’s room. “I live and breathe as a female every day. I dress it, I portray it. I exhibit it,” she said. Maine is one of only a small minority of states in America that have anti-discrimination laws protecting the rights of the transgendered. Denny’s sought to have the case dismissed, but the Androscoggin Superior Court refused and will hear the suit sometime in 2011.

Last weekend, Cambridge, Massachusetts Mayor David Maher came out, publically, during a speech the 51 year old gave during the city’s annual Pride brunch, Maher noting a trend that makes him the third consecutive gay mayor elected to office, saying “in the early 1990s my city council colleague Ken Reeves came out as the first openly gay mayor of Cambridge – since that time Denise Simmons and I have both had the privilege and honour of serving as Mayor.”

French model Tom Nicon was found dead Friday in Milan. The 22 year old was a favourite of Burberry – both print and runway – and has just completed a fitting for Versace this morning, ahead of the Milan Fashion Week, which begins Saturday. Nicon reportedly fell from his apartment window, although it is not clear whether it was an accident or deliberate.
