Tiwonge Chimbalanga Is Unafraid And Says He Will Remain A Gay, Mother Teresa Builds Bridges Between Catholics And Gays, House Armed Service Committee Head Afraid Repeal Of DADT Will Mean Mommy And Daddy Will Have To Explain Homosexuality, Jim Carrey Hot Man On Man Love, Margaret Cho, Clay Aiken Assumes GLSEN Advocacy Role, Adam Lambert Refuses To Accept Anything, Will Gay Sex Sell Sunglasses

An update on the relentlessly sad story of Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga separating, the Guardian reporting that Chimbalanga contending that Monjeza’s seemingly sudden decision to convert to heterosexuality and begin a relationship with 24 year old Dorothy Gulo was an attempt “to hurt” him, Tiwonge adding “but I am not worried. You cannot force love, and nobody forced him when we did our symbolic wedding in December.” Tiwonge does not resent Steven’s choice to end their relationship, saying “I will also marry because there are lots of good men around. I will remain a gay.” George Thindwa, a former political prisoner and the director of a local human rights group the Association for Secular Humanism, says that “Monjeza was always a reluctant person in this partnership, but they managed to get the waters tested and they have seen the waters are rough.” He added that the couple will forever be remembered as heroes, pioneers of gay rights in the African county and that “Malawi will never be the same on the gay issue. The couple have opened a can of worms.”

A decision by the owners of the Empire State Building declining to illuminate the landmark building August 26th in honour of what would have been Mother Teresa’s 100th birthday may do the impossible: unite the Catholics and the gays.

Representative Jim Skelton, Democrat, from Missouri, is the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and Tuesday he said that the military should keep the ban on openly gay man and women serving in part because he does not want to open a national discussion on homosexuality. Skelton says that if the 17 year old ban known as “don’t ask, don’t tell” were to be repealed, families would be forced to explain homosexuality to children. “What do mommies and daddies say to their 7 year old child?” Skelton asked, rhetorically.

The much talked about graphic gay sex scene from the much delayed I Love You Phillip Morris has appeared, Jim Carrey and a muscle, moustachioed daddy, um, getting graphic, as well as Carrey collapsing into the arms (and mouth) of Ewan McGregor. (NSFW)

Margaret Cho has announced a new in conjunction with an album of musical comedy – Cho Dependent and there are a number of Canadian dates, including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa.

Clay Aiken, in addition to an number of other philanthropic works including UNICEF, has assumed a role as advocate for GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, the organization that works in the United States to create safe schools for all students, a decision that is personal for Aiken because he says he was constantly harassed and tormented when he was in school. “But the truth is, when I look back on it, I absolutely know that (being gay) is why I got picked on. People said it, we heard it,” said Aiken, eyeing his mother, who joined him at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. His mother, Faye Parker, although aware of the bullying, did not acknowledge Aiken was gay until he came out to her in 2004. “I heard the kids call him names,” she says, “I knew some things about him were a little but more effeminate than others. But parents engage in denial.” Aiken’s involvement with GLSEN is another indication that Aiken is interested in becoming a spokesperson for gay rights and for full equality.

Adam Lambert insists he is not a representative for the gay community, but is instead a representative of who he is, and blames conservative, older gays for attacking his performance at the American Music Awards. “It’s interesting because when all that stuff happened with the AMA awards and the whole controversy about me kissing that guy and grabbing the other dude – it’s funny because there was a generational divide within the gay community,” Lambert says. “There were some more conservative gays that were like, ‘You shouldn’t be doing that. You’re painting us in a bad light, making us look trashy.’ And I remember thinking to myself, as proud as I am to be a member of the gay and lesbian community, it’s not my job to paint a picture of the community. I’m only responsible for painting a picture of who I am as an individual. It was a confusing time, because as proud as I am, I’m not here to represent a group. I’m here to be an artist.”

Sir Vaughn, which sells tacky accessories to equally tacky consumers, has unveiled an advertisement ostensibly for sunglass – tacky, naturally – that features man performed fellatio on another man. The blurring is in the original ad.
