Summit County Utah Passes Anti-Discrimination Ordinances, Gay Customs Officers Accused Of Getting More Than Fair Share Of Strip Searches, $449,437 Grant To Study Barebacking, Retired General Sheehan And Tony Perkins Team Up For Stupidity, Bisexual Daniel Craig, Prince Harry And William Cuteness, Taylor Lautner Hotness

Summit County, Utah has become the six in the state to ban any and all anti-gay discrimination, the County Council voting unanimously to pass two ordinances preventing employment and housing discrimination based on an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity. County Councilwoman Sally Elliot said “It’s the right thing to do. It’s wrong to discriminate against anyone for any reason. We wanted to make a statement that we all believe that it’s right to treat people well.” Equality Utah, the state’s largest gay advocacy group aims to increase the list to ten by the end of 2010.

In New Zealand, two terminated customs officials are seeking to regain their former positions at the Christchurch International Airport, the two taking their case to the Employment Relations Authority. Glenn Rankin and John Smith were fire4ed in March for allegedly revealing to a newspaper details regarding a gay customs officers who allegedly “sought more than his share of strip-search assignments and made lewd comments about male passengers.” However, according to the manager of the customs, the gay officer search statistics were high since he worked the busiest shifts and was often the lone male available to search male passengers.

Christian Grov, an assistant professor of health and nutrition sciences, was awarded a $449,437 NIH Support of Competitive Research grant to conduct a three-year study to see if gay and bisexual men who hold a predilection towards potentially high risk sexual practices – i.e. barebacking – prefer the nonverbal physical seductions practiced in bars, bathhouses, and clubs over the verbal seduction that purported precedes an Internet hook-up. The Brooklyn College professor and a team will follow 150 men for six months to chart their behavioural patterns.

Retired American Marine General John Sheehan, forced to apologize after claiming, erroneously, that gay service members of the Dutch Army were to blame for a massacre at Srebrenica, has now co-authored a hideous inanity with Tony Perkins, the president of the anti-gay Family Research Council for Politico, the two arguing that allowing for a repeal of the military ban on openly gay men and women serving would be “devastating.” The duo suggests that “homosexuality carries with it profound implications. Sexual attraction among members of the same sex – living, exercising, fighting and training alongside one another in closest of quarters – could devastate morale, foster heightened interpersonal tension and lead to division among those who, more than virtually any other group in society, need to act as one,” adding that the “logistics of allowing open homosexuality in the military could be unmanageable.” As if to underline their stupidity, the two state that “according to date released last year by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, gay and bisexual men are 50 times more likely to have HIV than heterosexual men. This would be devastating for military resources already stretched thin, and it has pronounced implications for battlefield blood transfusions.” Sheehan and Perkins conclude their argument is “not about bigotry. Race is a superficial and benign element of one’s humanness, while homosexuality is a matter of behaviour.”

More proof, purportedly, of the burgeoning bisexuality of Daniel Craig.
