Defense Secretary Robert Gates Suggests President Obama Might Veto Repeal Of DADT

American Defense Secretary Robert Gates says it is possible that President Obama will veto legislation that would lift the ban on openly gay men and women from serving in military because the spending bill that the repeal is attached to contains money for defense projects he (and the Obama administration) consider wasteful. President Obama and Gates both favour a repeal of the policy known as “don’t ask, don’t tell,” but Gates has historically been opposed to the purchasing of a number of aircraft engines and additional transport aircraft that are included in the bill, added by legislators who represent areas in America where defense contractors profit from the purchase of the aforementioned aircraft.
