GetEQUAL, the newly formed American gay rights advocacy group, who follows a philosophy founded on acts of civil disobedience, interrupted a speech Monday evening in Los Angeles, California by President Obama, who was addressing an audience attending a Senator Barbara Boxer fundraiser. According to early reports, member of GetEQUAL began yelling for a repeal of the United States military ban on gays serving openly, forcing Obama to yell back “we are going to do that ... we are going to repeal don’t ask, don’t tell.” The President was again interrupted moments later by a protestor who yelled “it’s time for equality for all Americans.” Obama responded, stating “can I just say again Barbara and I are supportive of repealing don’t ask, don’t tell.” He was interrupted a third time, before a majority of those in attendance began chanting “yes we can,” effectively drowning out the protestors.
The Cathedral of Hope in Dallas, Texas, the largest gay and lesbian congregation in the world, announced it will host a Los Angeles production of Corpus Christi, the Terrence McNally play that imagines Jesus as gay, reinventing the figure as a modern gay man living in Corpus Christi. Co-sponsored by the Dallas-based Arts for Peace and Justice, the performances are scheduled for June 4-6th. A Tarleton State University student directed production of the play, directed by John Otte, has twice been cancelled, motivated by community protests, most of who contend the work is blasphemous. According to the Cathedral of Hope website, 108 Productions of Los Angeles, “the play is far from blasphemous. It is an extension of divine Love that Jesus Christ embodied. We are sorry Tarleton students were exposed to such hate, fear and homophobia. In response to this extremism and censorship recently displayed in the region we have decided to bring our production of Corpus Christi to Dallas.”

I am not certain why, but Channing Tatum spotted Monday in New York City, in a dreadful ensemble comprised of hoodie, camouflage cargo shorts, and those wonky Vibram Five Fingers KSO shoes, which are fast becoming this year’s crocs.
Alexander Skarsgard might be prone to temper tantrums, but the star of True Blood is smoking sexy on the cover of VMAN magazine, so we will forgive his anger management issues.
