Monday morning, in San Francisco, the case of Christian Legal Society v. Martinez will be heard by the Supreme Court, the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law defending its anti-discrimination policy against an argument that policy denies religious freedom. The case arises after the Hastings chapter of the Christian Legal Society, was told by administrators that following school guidelines, must accept any student that wanted to join. The CLS, a recognized campus student group, balked, refusing to alter its leadership criteria – it does not accept gays or non-Christians – because doing so, according to the organization would compromise its core beliefs and is a violation of the Constitution’s guarantee of free speech. According to the acting chancellor and dean, Leo P. Martinez, the group, which wants to “promote, love and serve Jesus Christ through the study and practice of law” is demanding special consideration, wanting access to benefits and student activity fees, but will not agree to the same non-discrimination policy that all student groups adhere to.

Manchester United defeated Manchester City Saturday 1-0, veteran Paul Scholes scoring the only goal with a little less than twenty seconds left in the match, the win keeping United in the running for the title. To celebrate, United Capitan Gary Neville promptly kissed Scholes full on the lips.
