Some parishioners of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Warr Acres, Oklahoma are upset over a crucifix they say show an image of ludicrously large penis on Jesus. According to the Reverend Philip Seeton, “there are a couple people who have left the parish,” adding that “there are people in the parish who don’t like it and have stayed. Seeton points out that the crucifix in questions actually portrays the abdomen of Jesus “showing distension,” and not an engorged penis. The crucifix, created by a local artist, Janet Jaime, is a San Damiano cross, a common Catholic icon that originated in Italy in the 12th century and is widely associated with St. Francis of Assisi and the order he founded, the Franciscans.
