Calgary Psychiatrist Case Held Over Till May 6th While Police Investigate At Least Thirty Other Complaints Of Sexual Abuse, Bishop Charged With Child Pornography Now Charged With Sexually Abusing Orphan In 1982, Fort Worth Texas Theater Withdraws Offer To Stage Tarleton State Production Of Corpus Christi, Joe Jonas’ Outline, David Henrie

In Calgary, 71 year old Aubrey Levin has retained an attorney, Alain Harper, who made an appearance in court Thursday on his client’s behalf, Levin, a psychiatrist, accused of allegedly assaulting a male patient repeatedly while under his care. He was arrested on March 23rd, and two later has his license to practice medicine suspended by the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons. The case has been adjourned until May 6th. Levin, who was known in his native South Africa as "Dr. Shock" while working for the National Army during the apartheid-era, Levin commonly “curing” gays through a series of electroshock therapy, as well as chemical castration, has been a licensed psychiatrist in Alberta since 1998, working at an area hospital, as well as the University of Calgary. He also acted as a forensic psychiatrist in several criminal cases within the province, complicating the case brought against him since apparently few, if any Crown prosecutors do not have previous dealings with Levin. Also, Alberta Justice now has the onerous task of reviewing all the cases Levin participated in to ensure that no miscarriages of justices occurred. Calgary police have stated that at least thirty other victims have come forward since Levin was arrested, and authorities say the investigation is ongoing and no details can be released at this time. Questions remain as to exactly how Levin immigrated to Canada, how he obtained a license to practice psychiatry, and how he was hired by University of Calgary, as well as Alberta Justice.

Bishop Raymond Lahey, who is facing charges of possession of child pornography after his personal laptop was seized by Canada Customs in September, 2009, in Ottawa, Ontario, is now facing allegations he sexually abused a former resident of the Mount Cashel orphanage in 1982, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, a statement of claim filed in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador on Thursday.

Wednesday Adam Adolfo, executive director of Artes de la Rosa announced that the Rose Marine Theater had agreed to stage the four Tarleton State University student directed plays that were scheduled to be performed privately in March as a part of a master directing final project, but which were cancelled after one of the plays, Terrence McNally’s Corpus Christi, which imagines Jesus as a gay man, was the subject of protests by the community, but Thursday the Board of Directors of the Artes de la Rosa withdrew the offer of the venue, stating that the “combination of producing or hosting a production of this caliber and commentary is always difficult. The board of directors felt at this time that this was not the appropriate venue or appropriate organization to be hosting this particular play.” John Jordan Otte, the Tarleton State student director of Corpus Christi, expressed disappointment at the sudden, vague decision by the Rose Marine Theater, saying that he hoped “that this play can be presented where an audience can see it to understand what it’s really all about.”
