Mexican singer Paquita la del Barrio has scheduled a press conference for this Tuesday afternoon at which time she is expected to apologize for suggesting that she would rather let a child die in the streets than be adopted by a same sex couple. She will make the announcement, followed by a performance at Spartacus, a sprawling gay club in Ciudad Netzahualcoyotl, a suburb of Mexico City.

An estimated one hundred gay activists took to the streets of Istanbul on Saturday, to protest recent comments made by Turkey’s State Minister in charge of families and children, who said in an interview “I believe homosexuality is a biological disorder ... something that needs to be treated.”

The incidents occurred after a noon hour protest took place on the west side of the Capital buildings, drawing thousands of protesters to a “Code Red” rally against the health care bill, attending by Representative Michele Bachmann, a Republican from Minnesota known for her inflammatory and often ignorant rhetoric.
