Robert Carter, a gay Jesuit priest who, in 1973, founded the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, has died. He was 82. Carter, who also founded the New York City chapter of the Dignity, an American advocacy group that aims to aid gay men and women marry their sexuality and spirituality, died on February 22nd, and a memorial will be held March 22nd.
United States Magistrate Joseph Spero late Friday issued an order insisting that a number of gay rights groups that campaigned against Proposition 8 – the California same sex marriage ban – provide some internal memos and e-mails to attorneys for the measure’s sponsors. The order is a part of the federal trial challenging the constitutional validity of voter amendment.
