A terribly sad story from Michigan on the casualties of gay inequality, 48 year old Renee Harmon, whose nineteen year relationship with 39 year old Tammy Davis ended in 2008, the two having raised three children, a daughter born in 1999, and twin boys born in 2002, all of which Davis carried after being artificially inseminated. Davis refuses to allow Harmon to have any and all contact with the three children, and under state law, there is no recourse for Harmon except to challenge in court for custody.
From Florida, a report on a provision hidden inside a Republican House 75 million dollar incentive bill that would eliminate film and television shows with gay characters or gay context from earning a “family friendly” tax credit is produced in the state, although no one, lest of all the bill’s sponsors can seem to define what constitutes “non-traditional family values.” Representative Stephen Precourt tries to explain, saying “think of it as like Mayberry. That’s when I grew up – the 60’s. That’s what life was like I want Florida to be known for making those kinds of movies: Disney movies for kids and all that stuff. Like it used to be, you know?” Remember people: he was elected somehow by someone.
