In Washington, D.C. a report that last week there were 466 applications for marriage licenses - the first week that gay couples, alongside straight couples could apply for a licence. On average, the D.C. courthouse receives 50 applications per week.
Wednesday, the Itawamba County School District, in Fulton, Mississippi, announced it was cancelling prom an Itawamba Agricultural High this year, because Constance McMillen petitioned to bring a same sex date. Thursday Constance McMillen, who is remarkably articulate and intelligent, returned to Itawamba Agricultural High School, despite not wanting to return the day after the decision, Constance saying “My daddy told me that I needed to show them that I’m still proud of who I am. The fact that this will help people later on, that’s what’s helping me to go on.”
