Should Governments Be Sanctioning Marriages, Chinese Delegate Competes For Worldwide Mr. Gay Championship, Premier Football Association Anti-Homophobia Failure, Brian Joubert Remains Not Gay, Zac Efron Seizes The Day

Should marriage be both a politically and religiously sanctioned or should the government be out of the marriage business altogether, civil unions offered to both gay and straight a solution to solving the gay marriage debate?

Despite opposition from China, a representative of the country is going to compete in the Worldwide Mr. Gay celebrations in Oslo, Norway, events scheduled to occur this weekend. 25 years old and Muslim, the man, identified as Xiaodai Muyi, from Xinjiang, is not Mr. Gay China; the title went unclaimed after authorities in Beijing cancelled the event which was to be held on January 15th. Nonetheless, a covert group gathered, voted, and Xiaodai, after obtaining a visa Tuesday, is set to star for his country. Despite having decriminalized homosexuality in 1997, and removed from the official list of psychological disorders in 2001, China remains anxious over homosexuality and of gays, though officials reluctantly encourage and promote tiny amounts of tolerance if only to appear to modern to the outside world.

An attempt by the Premier Football Association in England to at least address the rampant problem of homophobia surrounding the sport both on and off the field is in fact underlining how systemic a problem it is. Reports that an anti-homophobia campaign initiated by the FA has been derailed because not one active player dared to appear lend credence gay is the last taboo in the sport.

Meet Brian Joubert, 25 years old, ranked 6th in the world of men’s figure skating, competing in the Vancouver Winter Olympics for France. Joubert, the subject of just published book, is often criticised by fellow skaters for his lack of technique, and is also the subject of speculation about his sexual orientation. This training pictorial from 2006 does little to dampen notions he plays for our team.

Zac Efron was seen out and about in Los Angeles, California on Thursday, leaving little doubt as to what team he plays for.
